Paycom launches IWant — voice/text command AI for HRIS
Single-database architecture is the AI moat story. Voice or text prompts pull from one data layer — no LLM-over-integrations friction.
Paycom unveiled IWant in late July 2025, an AI engine that responds to natural-language voice or text prompts pulling answers from the platform’s single-database architecture. Employees can ask "What’s my PTO balance?" or "Show my last paycheck withholdings" and receive accurate, real-time responses without navigating menus.
IWant complements the enhanced "Ask Here" AI Q&A layer (released May 2025) that surfaces policy documents and HR guidance. Paycom is positioning the pair as their structural moat versus competitors stitching LLMs over multi-database integrations — the argument being that single-database HRIS provides cleaner data grounding for AI.
Buyer-side takeaway
Worth requesting in any Paycom demo. The single-database story is real, and the AI features are a credible differentiation against ADP WFN (multi-database, AI added retroactively) and Rippling (modular, AI bundled across modules). But test it with your own scenarios — vendor demo data is always cleaner than production.
